Who We Are
Irish cuisine is more than potatoes and reubens (seriously!) - share your love of food as a volunteer with Celtic Kitchen.
What We Do
Each day of the festival, Irish, Irish American, and local chefs host cooking shows, and volunteers assist with sharing samples to the audience, light tidying, as well as with daily set-up and tear-down.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare stage area for each show by ensuring the proper equipment and ingredients are available
- Clean area after each show
- Transport equipment to prep kitchen to clean between shows
- Properly store ingredients in each show
- Assist during demo: may need to move between prep kitchen and stage area to ensure chef has necessary equipment and ingredients
- Prepare samples: method determined onsite based on menu and chef preferences; may involve plating samples and preparing trays for distribution
- Distribute samples to audience: may involve carrying trays of samples to the audience and passing out samples
- Maintain prep kitchen area: main involve dishwashing, drying, and storing equipment; may involve packaging and storing food in proper location
Qualifications:
- May be asked to perform duties in front of an audience
- Ability to stand for long periods and await instructions
- Ability to carry and serve weighted trays and boxes
- Wear comfortable clothes and shoes
- Kitchen experience helpful, but not required
