Who We Are

A Gaeltacht is an area in Ireland where Irish is spoken as the primary language. There are Gaeltachts in Counties Donegal, Galway, Kerry, Cork, Waterford and Meath, and there are communities of Irish speakers in Dublin and Belfast, too. Our Gaeltacht is a friendly place where you'll encounter the Irish language at Irish Fest. (Our sister tent is the Language Workshop (Ceardlann na Gaeilge)
.)
Our entertainment features sean-nós singing, sean-nós dancing, and highlights of what you'd find at the annual Oireachtas na Gaeilge. There are Irish lessons and an open stage for visitors to do their party piece.

What We Do
Fáilte go dtí an Ghaeltacht! Welcome to the Gaeltacht!

The Gaeltacht attracts a good crowd of people interested in authentic culture and entertainment.

We make sure the entertainers have what they need. (The stage manager runs sound and is part of Entertainment.)
At our table, we stamp the Festival Passport for kids and give out stickers. We answer questions about Irish (or refer people to the Irish Language Workshop tent) and make up name tags with the visitor's name in Irish.
